Face it... it's time to call Grammy!
My oh' so wonderful mom came to stay with us since Tuesday night. Unfortunately, she had to go home today :(. We had a blast with her over the last 3 days. It is such a relief to have your mom around. It made going to the doctor with Lucy McLean easier, shopping easier, bathing easier, everything! We were able to get a lot done around the house. Last night was my own personal episode of "Clean Sweap" and today, I felt like my house was on "Curb Apeal" (pictures to come soon). It was very hard to see her car pull out of the driveway. I have always been very close to my mom, but I feel even more close to her now that I am a mom. It sure makes it hard to be away. Mom, thanks for everything! I am the most blessed daughter on the face of this earth!!! Lucy McLean says thanks for everything Grammy!

Spittin' Image
Since Lucy McLean was born, I have thought that she looks like my mom. I guess that means she looks like me. It is just weird to me to think of her looking like me. My whole life, I knew that I was a "spittin' image" of my mom. It just feels weird for me to have my own "spittin' image". Of course everyone has their opinions. I see more of Ryan in her daily, but when my Grandmother pulled this picture out, I started to laugh. So, what do you think? Does Lucy McLean look like her Mama?

White Squirrel Fun
My parents and the Dentons were able to come up and go to the White Squirrel Festival with us this weekend. For those of you who don't know, Brevard is known for it's white squirrels. Yes, they really exist (see pic)! The festival was a lot of fun. There were all sorts of vendors, a soap box derby and great music. Last night, we took Lucy McLean to her first concert. Edwin McCain was downtown. She was ready to last all night, but we didn't last all that long. We came home to put her in bed. We had loads of fun with family and friends. It was a great weekend. Ryan took a photoshoot of the Denton's son, Luke. He is such a cutie! ENJOY!!!
WAR EAGLE!!!

How many things can you pack in to one weekend?
We had a big weekend! On Friday night, our homegroup from church threw Lucy McLean her first party. She enjoyed hanging out with the ladies! After the shower, we went to my parents house. My dad was leaving at 2 in the morning to go fishing and we couldn't let a chance for him to kiss on LM to pass by. We got there WAY late and surprised him.
On Saturday, we went to my parent's neighbors house for a cookout and then down to my grandmother's house. We hung out with the family all afternoon. Saturday night, we (Ryan and I) went on a date to see my baby cousin (he's 16 now) in "The Graduate". Ryan had never seen the play so he was totally shocked to see Caleb in a sexual role. He laughed so hard. It was a lot of fun.
Yesterday was yet another packed day. All of the McLeans came over to my parents house for lunch. We had a blast hanging out and eating (what we do best). Aunt Sue came early to get her hands on LM. Ryan took about 100 pics of the two of them together. I will cherish these pictures forever. He did such a good job. I tried to put them in a slide show to show off, but for some reason, I can't get it to work right. I made sure all of the pictures were saved in the right direction, but they all turned back to their original form, once put in the slide show :(. If anyone knows how to change this, please let me know!
Last night, we stopped by Ryan's parents and had dinner. Lucille got to love on LM and we got to hang out for a bit. Ryan's mom made a delicious meal and then we were on our way.
Needless to say, we were all four (including Snoop) pooped from our long weekend. We had a great time, but we had a lot jam packed in to 3 days. Lucy McLean slept 10 hours last night and I had to wake her up at that point! She is now napping again, but we have grocery shopping to do! On to run our erands. I will add more pictures from Friday night and LM with Lucille later today. For now, you can look at the slide show (and try not to get a krick in your neck)of Lucy McLean with her GREAT GREAT Aunt Sue!

These are pictures of Lucy McLean with her Great Great Aunt Minnie Sue, one of the McLean's inwhich she got her name from. Let me know if you know how to turn the pictures in the right direction.

Before I was a Mom...
I am sure many of you've seen this before..
Before I was a Mom :
I never tripped over toys or forgot words to a lullaby.
I didn't worry whether or not my plants were poisonous.
I never thought about immunizations.
Before I was a Mom :
I had never been puked on.
Pooped on.
Chewed on.
Peed on.
I had complete control of my mind and my thoughts.
I slept all night.
Before I was a Mom :
I never held down a screaming child so doctors could do tests. Or give shots.
I never looked into teary eyes and cried.
I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin.
I never sat up late hours at night watching a baby sleep.
Before I was a Mom :
I never held a sleeping baby just because I didn't want to put her down.
I never felt my heart break into a million pieces when I couldn't stop the hurt.
I never knew that something so small could affect my life so much.
I never knew that I could love someone so much.
I never knew I would love being a Mom.
Before I was a Mom :
I didn't know the feeling of having my heart outside my body.
I didn't know how special it could feel to feed a hungry baby.
I didn't know that bond between a mother and her child.
I didn't know that something so small could make me feel so complete.
Before I was a Mom :
I had never gotten up in the middle of the night every 10 minutes to make sure all was okay.
I had never known the warmth, the joy, the love, the heartache, the wonderment or the satisfaction of being a Mom.
I didn't know I was capable of feeling so much
That was before I was a Mom.

Happy Belated Mother's Day
I meant to write this post a few days ago, but Lucy McLean's tummy has called my attention and then we were without internet for a day (boy does that easily seem like an eternity). This being my first Mother's Day, it was the first time that I really sat down and reflected on all my own mother has done for me over the years. She has sacrificed so much for me. My mother is truly a pillar of strength. I remember, as a child, wishing that I could handle things with the dignity that my mother did. She has taught me so much, more than I can begin to put in one little post. I feel like I am a stronger woman because of my mother. So, Mom, thank you for loving me unconditionally, supporting me, listening to me, teaching me, standing up for me, letting me use the "my mom said no" card, showing me how to stand up for myself, praying for me and for being the most amazing mom ever. My prayer is that I can raise Lucy McLean half as well as you did with me! I LOVE YOU!!!

Grandpa "Clyde's" Favorite Angler
My dad was really excited when we found out we were pregnant. He can't wait to fish with his grandchildren. So, he bought this bib. The whole time we were pregnant, he was sure that LM was a boy. When Ryan announced that we had a little girl, my dad's response was, "I'm gonna have to buy a pink fishing pole". Lucy McLean loves her bib and wanted to thank her grandpa for it. She also says she can't wait to fish with him!
P.S. For those of you who don't know, my dad's name isn't Clyde. This was his first pick for a name for Baby Shelton. I'm not sure why, but we didn't go with it! ;)

TAG...I'm it!
Thanks to my new blogging buddy, Laura Deline, the entire universe now gets to know trivial information about ME! I know... I know... don't wet yourself over your excitement. So, here it goes..
What was I doing 10 years ago?
I was a sophomore at West Rowan and thinking that the world revolved around that small little school. I was dating a guy who ended up being THE COMPLETE opposite of the amazing man that the Lord had made for me (love you Ryan). Boy am I glad that drama is over!!!
5 Things on My To-Do List Today:
1. Work on our budget. Loving maternity leave, hating the lack of pay!
2. Get a quote on repainting my living room (and possibly kitchen). Ryan has hated the green for almost 2 years now, so I am giving in and changing it. We are going to do a khaki color in the living room. Since our kitchen is currently goldish, that will probably need to change too. Any good ideas for a khaki color (sherwin williams) or kitchen color?
3. Walk with Megan (and hopefully get some sun on this oh' so pasty body)
4. Mail everyone's Mother's Day gifts
5. Love on, stare at, feed, change, Love on some more, my beautiful daughter! (this one will definitely get done!!!)
5 Snacks I love:
1. Graham Crackers
2. Ice Cream
3. Sonic's Tropical Smoothy
4. Chips and Salsa
5. Cereal (could eat it for every meal)
5 Things I would do if I were a Billionaire:
(sorry I couldn't stop at 5)
1. Tithe WAY more than 10% of it!
2. Put aside enough for Lucy McLean and her future siblings college and weddings. By the way, THANKS TO MY WONDERFUL PARENTS WHO PAID FOR BOTH OF THESE FOR ME! I FEEL SOOO BLESSED!!!!
3. Figure out where in the world the Lord wants us and build our dream home!
4. Tell Ryan to put in his notice at McNeely's and plan some vacations!!!
5. Pay off ALL OF Beth's doctor bills and tell her to relax and let the Lord heal her! Don't get me wrong, Beth has had an amazing attitude and great faith. I am soo proud of you!
6. Give to nonprofits for children and rescue dogs!
Ok... I think my money may be dwindling down at this point!
5 Bad Habits:
1. Picking.. at scabs, at Lucy McLean's skin, etc.
2. Blog stalking- Wow, time flies when you are on the internet.
3. Not doing my devotion daily.
4. Talking on my cell phone while driving. Ryan and I are trying to not call anyone while we have Lucy McLean in the car with us. Boy has this changed things!
5. Not being content with what I have and making lists of things I would change around my house.
5 Places I've Lived:
1. Mount Ulla, N.C. - Good ol' Rowan County, born and raised! My hometown is near and dear to my heart. It is the epitomy of a small town with 1 stoplight (actually just a warning yellow light at the high school), farms, my family, a feed store, churches and a lot of down to earth people. Nothing like it!
2. Asheville, NC- Mills Hall (craziness freshman year, hugh Erin Michelle?!), SouthRidge with Adrianne, and Founders. Loved those times.
3. Weaverville, NC- with the wonderful Ryan Norman. Our first apartment and the wonderful Evaskews across the way! Boy was that a fun year! I MISS YOU!!!
4. Auburn, Alabama- WAR EAGLE! Moving out on my own, away from family and all of the familiar was a challenge for me. Luckily, I had the great Jon Higginbotham and met my amazing Jamie. I loved finding my way and all of the growing up that I did down there. Auburn is definitely a place that gets in your blood and you can't get it out!
5. Brevard, NC- Where Ryan and I currently live. We knew we wanted to be in the mountains of N.C. and just prayed that the Lord would place us where we needed to be. We landed here in this beautiful town. We have loved getting to know everyone here and our amazing church. Sure, we miss our families, but we are taking it one day at a time and loving what the Lord has blessed us with!
5 Jobs I've Had...
1. Babysitting the fabulous Horton Crew (Mimi was 2, Brantley 3 and Susannah wasn't born when I started babysitting them. Now they are 10,15 and 16. Boy how time flies. I am so proud of all three of you!!!)
2. Pie In the Sky Pizza- Mom said I had to learn how to wait tables, "a skill everyone needs in life". My claim to fame that summer was Dale Jr. always visiting with his latest flame. He tipped good!
3. YMCA Camp Counselor
4. Nanny for the Whatleys in college
5. Kindergarten and 4th grade teacher
5 People I Want to Know More About:
1. Amanda Belue
2. Leslie Sloan
3. Ryan Norman
4. Holly Neel
5.Jamie Cook (because you need a blog)

Too stinkin hilarious...
and oh so true.
My friend Sara told me about this site a few weeks ago. I totally forgot to check it out until I saw it on Leslie's blog today. It is basically a satire on the white race and boy is it true. You have to check it out.

Lucy McLean's Photo Shoot
Mom and I went to take Lucy McLean to have her picture taken in her bloomers. I had not planned on having her in any outfit, but the photographer pushed us in to getting pictures taken in clothes too. By the time we stripped her down for the bloomer pictures, she was done. We ended up spending a fortune though. CUTIE PATOOTIE!!
Missing Stuff...
All of a sudden, everything to the left of my posts are gone. I looked back on my settings and it acts as if it should all be there. Does anyone have any idea what I did? How can I get it back?!
