Lazy Child

We were exhausted after such an exciting weekend. Ryan, Lucy McLean and Snoop took a nap together. Snoop is hilarious. Anytime LM is on one of our chests, he rests his noggin on her cutie patootie bottom. He doesn't want to miss a thing.

LM was so tired that she fell asleep during tummy time. Her oh so addicted father took about 500 pictures of her asleep. She gets her sleeping habits from me. My grandfather drove the same truck my entire life. No, I am not kidding.. MY ENTIRE LIFE! I remember the windows rattling and the entire truck jolting growing up. It didn't matter to me though. I could be in there 2 minutes and I was out cold.

When she finally woke up, she was cracking us up. She loves to be naked. She almost looks like she is smiling at Ryan here!

While our child is still in the laying around being precious stage, our friend's kids are in the stinkin' hilarious stage. Matt and Leslie Sloan are YL leaders in Asheville and were gracious enough to let me move in with them for a semester in college. They are so fun to be around and crack me up. They are exactly what a YL leader needs to be. So, as I was waisting away my day on the computer, blog stalking, I saw one of Leslie's newest posts. Asher, their 3 year old, is a spitting image of Matt and obviously has his personality too. Check out this You Tube video. There is a little glimpse of Lucy too, who appears as if she will be just as big of a ham as her big brother. HILARIOUS http://www.ashevillesloan.blogspot.com/

Lucy McLean's Baby Dedication

We had Lucy McLean dedicated at church yesterday. It was a lot of fun to hang out with family and friends. Thank you to everyone for pledging your love and support in raising her in a christian home. We love you all!

Date Night

Excuse the 500 posts in one night. I haven't had time to sit down and catch up on everything. Saturday night, Ryan and I went to a wedding while my parents and Grandma watched Lucy McLean. It felt weird to leave her, but I knew she was in good hands. I think she stayed in this position, on various chests, throughout the night. We had a good time dressing up and being together. We laughed because we seemed to get a phone call every five minutes on our way home. We thought we were the ones who were supposed to call worried! Thanks to the wonderful babysitters!!! We love you!

Is it so wrong...?

Ok, so I definitely broke the head to bow/flower proportion rule, but is this not too stinkin cute? Ryan wouldn't let her actually wear it out of the house, but I loved the 3 minutes she had it on. I have to admit, I think I lost 5 pounds laughing in those 3 minutes. I guess we will have to wait for her head to grow a little hugh?! ADORABLE (if I do say so myself)

#1 Coach

Friday, we went to another of my Daddy's ballgames. Here are a few pictures from my adventure. I am officially the team's baby mascot. Every time I go, it rains and I end up having to hang out in the dugout with adolescent hormones (and smells)!
This is me, wide eyed and raring to go!
So happy to be in Daddy's arms
Isn't he a handsome coach?
Aghhh... what is that smell in this dugout?!

Change of face!

Yay!!! After much trying and lots of help from the wonderful Laura DeLine, the Sheltons finally have an updated blog! I made this new header over a week ago and couldn't figure out how to post it. Thankfully, Laura was able to help me out! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!

As for Lucy McLean, her face seems to be changing hourly! Here she is hanging out. The second picture was of her Daddy giving her a bath last night. He was such a good Daddy and had a date night with her, so that I could go to BUNCO. It felt weird to be out of the house without her. Tomorrow, Ryan and I are going on a date to a friend's wedding. My wonderful parents are coming up and babysitting while we are gone. Wish us luck that we can enjoy ourselves and not miss this cutie patootie face the whole time!

Aunt Sara

We had a great time with Aunt Sara this weekend. She flew in Friday night and sadly, had to leave this morning. She loved on Lucy McLean and helped us get an outfit for her baby dedication next weekend. It was so nice to catch up with Sara. Thank you so much for making the trip. We miss you already!!

Just because...

Yeah, so we realize that everyone may not think all of these pictures are near as cute as we do, but we are just too in love not to share. Lucy McLean had an exciting day today. My Mom (Grammy) and her friend Lillian came up for the day. We had a great time enjoying the beautiful weather. Lucy McLean did AMAZING as we shopped for almost 5 hours! She fits in so well!!! Here are some pictures of our great day. Mom and Lil, thank you for making the trip. WE LOVED HANGING OUT WITH YOU!!!!

Lillian's daughter-in-law makes these cutie patootie bows. She was sweet enough to send LM a variety of bows to sport with her different outfits! Thank you Sarah!!! WE LOVE THEM!!!

I am not as good as Ryan is with the camera, but this is the most precious thing ever to me. Here is my little family all snoozing together on the couch. This is LM's FAVORITE place to be! Nothing like seeing your husband so smitten over your daughter! Snoop loves the snuggle time too!

Can't wait until tomorrow night! Sara is flying in for the weekend! YAY!!! We are so blessed to have all of these awesome people in our life!

What I've Been Up To

Yep... another message from me!

Hey everyone! It's me again. I have had a busy week. Mama says that time is flying now that I am here. On Monday, I finally got my picture taken with my Aunt Moo Moo. She is my cousin Andie's mama. We walk together. She and my Mama are really good friends.

I also got to meet a very special friend on Monday. Her name is Beth. She teaches 4th grade, just like my Mama. She has two kids, Claire and Campbell. Beth is a single mom and just found out that she has cancer. The doctor's can't find the origination spot, so they haven't been able to tell her what kind of cancer she has yet. Mama says that God is amazing and that he can perform miracles. As Mama and Daddy pray with me every night before we go to bed, we pray for Beth and her family. Please pray with us. We know that God can heal her!

On Tuesday, my Aunt Moo Moo and her mom went with us to the mall. My Mama was finally able to get something done to her hair. While I was growing in her tummy, I made her hair grow really fast. It was looking pretty rough, but she is feeling prettier now! Thank you to Aunt Moo Moo and Gwen for strolling me around and teaching me how to shop, while Mama was pampered.
Today, Mama and I took Daddy lunch. We love going to go see this hard working man. Mama says he misses us when he has to go to work. We sure do miss him here too. Mama asks me why I don't just pay her and Daddy to be my parents and then they can stay home with me all of the time. I am not sure how I am supposed to pay them, but I sure do wish they could just stay here with me all of the time! Pray for my Daddy, as I know it is hard for him to leave me every morning!
Tomorrow will be a very exciting day. My Grammy is coming up with Lillian and Libby. I haven't met Lillian or Libby yet, so I am super excited about seeing them. Of course, I am also pretty excited about being loved and spoiled by my Grammy. She even called tonight while we were at church and left me a message on our answering machine. She says she can't wait to see me tomorrow. She was going to bed happy because, when she wakes up, it will be time to come see me. Speaking of bed, I should probably be heading that way. I need my beauty sleep ;)!

Busy Weekend

Wow, I had a jam packed weekend full of fun people. On Friday I went to my Daddy's ballgame. I was so proud of him. He is an awesome coach. Both teams (varsity and JV) won. Then we went out to eat. Of course, I only got milk, but Mama and Daddy seemed to enjoy their food.

On Saturday, I got to meet the Horton girls and Hailey (my cousin). These ladies loved on me all day and we had a blast. Susannah and Hailey even filled my crib up with all of the toys that I will one day play with. They thought I would sleep better with all of the soft sweetness!

This is what I woke up to... a crib full of soft cuddly toys. Thank you Susannah and Hailey!
Today, three of my Mama's awesome friends came to town. Mary Beth and Jenny have been friends of my Mama's her whole life. She can't remember not knowing them. Jenny (my Mama likes to call her Henna Eugene Gilbert) grew up with my Mama and went to church with her. She works at N.C.S.U. (her only bad quality is being a wolfpack fan) and is going to get married in November. Mama is sooo excited for her. I saw her sparkly diamond when she was rocking me today. Mary Beth's mom was my Mama's Kindergarten teacher. MB works for Cisco in Charlotte and is the proud new aunt to Daniel Newell (born last Friday). She has one other nephew, Trenton and a niece, Emma. She married a sweetie pie last September, named Patrick. Mama is so proud of her! Elizabeth and my Mama met in 6th grade. They didn't get along at first, but after the teachers sent them to peermediation (whatever that means!) haha, they became best of friends. They have been close ever since. Lizzy D lives in Morganton and works at Broughton Hospital. Mama says she has a really tough job, but that the Lord has called her to do what she does.

Everyone I met was so much fun. I knew they would be. My Mama talks about them all the time. She thanks the Lord for them, when we pray together at night. She says that we are truly blessed to have all of these people who care about us and want to come visit. I am just enjoying the snuggling with everyone.

Speaking of snuggling, it is time for a Sunday afternoon snooze with my Daddy. With all of this visitor time, he and I haven't gotten to snuggle as much as we are used to. Boy do I have an amazing Daddy. He loves me to pieces!

Have a great week everyone!

Sprucing Up!

I received this beautiful basket for a wedding present. I still have yet to figure out what to do with it. So, my sweet friend Heather (our Ag teacher at the high school and a Jill of all trades) came over and worked her magic. I think she did an amazing job. The only scary part is, this stuff is real and I am expected to keep it that way. Thank you Heather! YOU ARE AWESOME!

Flashback

What do you think? Does Lucy McLean look like her Mama? She definitely has her Daddy's coloring THANK THE LORD! I actually think she looks a lot like her Grammy. I will try to get a picture of my Mom when she was a baby on here soon for you to see.

Baby Steps

Hey! It's Lucy McLean again. Wow have I been busy. My Nana, Aunt Anna and Cousin Noah came to visit me on Friday. We went all the way up the mountain to see my Daddy at work. We had a lot of fun.

On Saturday, I met a lot of the McLean family. It was nice to finally see the people that I got my name from. They really are as awesome as Mom says they are. Our house was jam packed with aunts, uncles and cousins. Mama wasn't feeling very well, so she slacked off on the picture taking. Obviously, Daddy wasn't at home or we would have had a gazillion pictures. I am so glad he is capturing everything for me. I will be able to look back and see how much I am changing daily.

On Sunday, my Mama and Daddy tag teamed taking care of me. Daddy went to first worship at church and Mama went to second. It was nice to know that I was well taken care of and they could still go and worship. I can't wait until Dr. Myers gives them the okay for me to go to church. The weather was beautiful Sunday afternoon, so Mama talked Daddy in to taking our first walk. We made it all the way to the other side of town and back. We even got to meet a neighbor from the other end of the street. Her name is Grayson and she was born exactly one week after me. She is a cutie patootie and has a HEAD FULL OF HAIR!!!

My Grammy bought us a book from 106.9 on how to get me in to a schedule. Last night was our first night trying our new routine. It may be a little early for me to figure all of this out, but my Mama wanted to go ahead and try. Last night was a little rough at first and I broke my Daddy's heart everytime I cried, but I finally settled down and went 4 hours until my middle of the night feeding and 5 until the next. My Mama told me how proud she was of me this morning and she seems well rested. I am sure we are going to have a great day!

Well, it is about time for my morning nap. I just wanted to catch everyone up on what is happening in my life. So far, I am loving my new life outside of my Mama's tummy. All of my new friends have been wonderful and I already have my Daddy wrapped around my finger!!!!

Love,

Lucy McLean
