Sweet Heavenly Smiles

Today, Miss Kyla Parker, went to be with our Lord and Savior. She has a new body now, one without CF and with lungs and a liver that work perfectly. We would ask you to continue to pray for The Parker family and for this entire community that was blessed to know Miss Kyla. We feel blessed to have been a part of this journey, if only in prayer. Continue to pray for the Lords hug to be felt by all of the children who will miss Kyla so much. Please also pray for my words tomorrow, as I have been called back to the school that I taught at, for crisis intervention (aka counseling students who I once taught, who are now grieving). My heart is broken for these precious children and my prayer is that they see the Lord through this situation and that anger and bitterness (while appropriate, I am aware) not set in to their little hearts. Thank you to all of you who have prayed for Kyla and her family. Please know that they appreciate it more than you will ever know.

Happy Belated Birthday

With all the madness around here, I forgot to say Happy Birthday to my Papaw! We love you very much! Thank you for all you do!!!

Thank you Aunt Sue

My great, great Aunt Sue made me the most adorable tobaggan. She had made me one earlier, but she didn't realize how big my brain is, so it was a little too small. My new one is perfect and even has a little room to grow! Thank you so much!!!

Love,

Daddy's Back

I just wanted to update everyone to let you know that my daddy did amazing. His surgery went well and he is already back at home. We were amazed that he got to come home so quickly. I sure was glad, because I have missed him! Luckily, Grammy took me to see Mama and Daddy last night at the hospital. While I was there, I got to see the Aikens and the Stolzfus' too. We had lots of visitors this afternoon. The Livingstons, The Stricklers, Chad Laney, Alissa, and Grammy and Grandpa have been here. We feel so blessed to have everyone supporting our family during this. The Lord is amazing. Daddy is walking better than he has in years and feels okay. He is still having a hard time with staying awake, but I guess that is a good thing. It will be real easy to get bored in bed! He was able to walk around the house for awhile today. Mama is just totally amazed. Thanks again for your prayers and support. We love you!!!

Love,
Lucy McLean
P.S. While Daddy was in the hospital, Grammy and Grandpa took me downtown for my very 1st Halloween Festival. I couldn't miss this Brevard tradition. Here I am, dressed up in my "Pea in the Pod" costume!

Pray for Daddy

Dear Blog Readers,

Tomorrow morning, my daddy is going to have surgery on his back. He and mom are both pretty scared about this. Please pray that the Lord protect him through this and that he gets back to playing with me really soon. It is already breaking his heart not to be able to pick me up. He has been in a lot of pain this week. We pray that this will relieve his pain and that he doesn't have to go through this again. I can't wait to be doing this again...

Daddy... Mama and I love you very much! Get better soon!

Love,

Lucy McLean

Pray for Kyla

Kyla Parker is a sweet little girl who goes to church with us. She is also a 3rd grader at Rosman Elementary, the school I used to teach at. Kyla has suffered with cystic fibrosis for her courageous 8 years. She is currently in a battle for her life. Ryan and I would like to ask each of you who take the time to read our website, to take a moment to pray for this precious child and her family. Her parents, Jeff and Theresa, are currently with her in Pittsburgh. Her sister, Haley, is still trudging along in 5th grade at RES.. she is such a fighter too! Specific prayers would be:
1. That her oxygen levels would increase.
2. That dialysis provides some relief for her
3. That the Lord would hug this entire family and community and remind us each of His presence and power.
4. That Haley would continue to have the amazing strength that she is displaying.

Thank you all!

Surprise Photos

So, as I said before, Ryan and I were at a marriage retreat this past weekend. While we were gone, my parents kept Lucy McLean. My mom snuck and had her picture taken for us. What a great surprise! The blue dress was mine as a child (trust me.. she doesn't wear this in public.. the 21st century hasn't seen that many ruffles yet)! The pictures are great. I can't stop looking at them. THANKS GRAMMY!
Aren't I a big girl in my chair?

Mama's dress makes me laugh!

I look like my daddy here!

Guess where the Sheltons will be this weekend?

That's right... God's country. We are leaving after work for Auburn. Lucy McLean can't wait to see her Aunt Jacie, Uncle Josh and Uncle Big Jon. We are also stoked about seeing the DeLines! Ahh the things that the blog world can do!!! We hope that this weekend is a better one for our beloved Tigers! WAR EAGLE!!!

A BAD Toothache

Ryan had a great time fishing with my dad (200 some odd pictures to come). He did, however, loose his crown for the 5th time. He didn't think much of it and went on as planned. We went on to our marriage retreat this weekend (which was a blast... more about that later). His tooth started to hurt pretty bad Saturday. By yesterday, he was taking medicine for it. He went on to the dentist first thing this morning, where they discovered that his tooth was fractured. They tried pulling it and it broke off. So, at 10:15 I get a call to come pick him up from Dr. Ohlsson's office. He is in horrible pain at this point. We had to drive to Asheville where they had to put him to sleep and do "emergency oral surgery"... aka knock him out and pull what was left of his roots out. OUCH! He handled it amazingly and is now sleeping peacefully with this cutie patootie above. Ahhh... to have our family back together again is priceless. Say a prayer that he wakes up with minimal pain!
P.S. Dr. Ohlsson is not to blame and he was great. He actually just called the house to check on him. I love living in a small town where people care!
